The REBELION project, as a member of the Circular Battery Cluster, will take part in the webinar Closing the Loop: Reverse Logistics for Batteries in Europe, on 18 November 2025 at 17:00 CET.

As Europe accelerates its shift to electric mobility, managing the growing number of batteries poses new challenges. From collection to recycling, building a safe and circular reverse logistics chain requires strong collaboration across sectors.

This first webinar of the Circular Battery Cluster brings together leading European experts to explore how to connect the missing links in battery reverse logistics.
Drawing on real-world circularity projects — such as BatteReverse, REBELION, REINFORCE, and RECIRCULATE — the session will showcase solutions being tested across Europe, share lessons learned, and outline the next steps to scale circular systems for end-of-life batteries.

What to expect

  • Gain insights from leading European actors developing and testing reverse logistics solutions for end-of-life batteries.
  • Discover real examples of collaboration across the automotive, logistics, and recycling industries to build a circular battery value chain.
  • Learn about safety standards, regulatory alignment, and cross-border transport of lithium-ion batteries.
  • Hear lessons learned from EU-funded projects driving innovation in battery reverse logistics.

Follow the Circular Battery Cluster on LinkedIn and join the webinar to be part of Europe’s battery circularity journey.

The REBELION General Assembly took place on 30 September – 1 October 2025 at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). The meeting gathered all partners to review progress, exchange knowledge, and align on the next stages of the project.

On Day 1, the consortium presented the main results achieved from Month 24 to Month 29 (M24–M29). These included technical developments to improve safe and sustainable lithium-ion battery repurposing and recycling. Later, the partners visited the UPV pilot line, which demonstrated how the project is moving from research to application. This visit helped partners better understand the advancements achieved and their contribution to the European battery value chain.

On Day 2, discussions focused on the next steps planned from M29 to M32. Each partner shared priorities and agreed on concrete actions to ensure smooth implementation. To close the meeting, participants visited the CMT facility, where researchers explained their work on testing, validation, and sustainable mobility applications. The tour highlighted the importance of strong collaboration between research and industry to reach the project’s goals.

The REBELION General Assembly not only reinforced the commitment of the consortium but also strengthened collaboration across partners. The meeting confirmed progress towards the project’s ambition: developing a highly automated, safe, and efficient process for repurposing and recycling lithium-ion batteries. With this approach, REBELION supports Europe’s transition to a circular economy and contributes to the European Green Deal objectives.
